I'm Alex. This is my story.
I started playing with a camera in 5th grade when my friends and I decided to make a video for a project about the early European explorers. We had a very meticulous script covering cannon attacks brought on by pirates, discovering how to ration food scraps, and even learning how to distribute wages earned amongst the crew. Thanks to my father's editing skills of rewinding and taping over when we messed up a take, the video turned out to be a huge hit in Ms. Ford's classroom.
Years later, I ended up studying Visual Arts at the University of Dayton, and then transferring to Ohio University in order to study Video Production. I had my first internship at a media house in Columbus, Ohio, called Space Junk Media. There I learned the importance of quality within production, and even ended up coming away with a few graphic animation skills. I started to make a living off of freelance gigs around Columbus, each time learning new skills from the people I worked with. I had jobs as a Production Assistant, Grip, Camera Operator, and Editor.
Since then, I've moved to Bend, Oregon. With natural beauty around every corner, it is a totally different game out here. I've started taking more photos, as it translates well with my eye for video. My weekend backpacking trips become a struggle as my pack weight increases with 10 lbs. of camera gear swinging from D-rings and webbing loops. I find myself running out of wall space for printed photos, and hard drive space from the enormous amount of video footage I obtain. Somehow my dog ends up in 50% of my shots.
I feel very at home here, and am ready to create.
